WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary Club has donated $4,000 to the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activity Center as part of the proceeds from its third annual Road Apple Roulette raffle. The donation, presented by fundraiser chair Wayne Massing, aims to support the center's goal of keeping people over 50 "young at heart" through various exercise, education, and travel programs.

Two attendees at the senior center's recent crab feed further amplified the donation. Jim Heinlein of Springwater Insurance Group and Dave Solomon of Solomon Financial Group each contributed an additional $2,500, bringing the total donation to $9,000.

Road Apple Roulette, sponsored by Building North Central Washington, is an annual raffle held by the Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary Club to benefit local nonprofits. Participants guess where horses will leave their "road apples" during the Stemilt Grand Parade at the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival. The grand prize is $10,000, with four additional $500 prizes awarded to runners-up.

Rotary members in the Wenatchee Valley and worldwide contribute their time, energy, and passion for carrying out meaningful and sustainable projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, support mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and protect the environment.

The Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary's primary project is the Challenge Scholarship Program, which rewards up to eight high school students each year for achieving school goals under the guidance of adult mentors. The students compete for two $10,000 post-secondary scholarships for continued education or training.
