Leavenworth's Dangerous Women receives $17,500 Community Accelerator Grant

LEAVENWORTH — Dangerous Women, a Leavenworth-based women's history performance collaborative, has been awarded a $17,500 Community Accelerator Grant from ArtsFund and the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, the organization announced Tuesday.

The grant, part of a $10 million funding program supporting 811 grantees across Washington State, was determined by the program's Community Advisory Panel. Grants ranged from $2,500 to $25,000.

"With an annual budget under $50,000, we were amazed and gratified to be awarded funds in keeping with some of the bigger arts organizations in our region," said Rhona Baron, Dangerous Women's Creative Director/Producer.

According to ArtsFund president and CEO Michael Greer, the unrestricted funding will support a wide range of nonprofit arts and cultural organizations throughout 37 counties in Washington, with a focus on underrepresented communities, including those in rural areas, and for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities.

Dangerous Women specializes in creator-generated content from multiple cultural, individual, and artistic perspectives. The group recently completed a three-season run of "Unsettled," a pioneer history of Central Washington as seen through the eyes of multiple cultures.

The organization is now beginning the process of envisioning its fourth production, which will take a couple of years to build from scratch. Interested artists and community members are encouraged to contact Dangerous Women through their website.
