Posted

EAST WENATCHEE - The City of East Wenatchee is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies on its Planning Commission, a critical body that shapes the future development of this central Washington community.

The seven-member volunteer board, which typically meets monthly, plays a key role in reviewing land use, zoning, and development proposals. Members make recommendations to the City Council on matters that influence the city's growth and sustainability.

To be eligible, applicants must either reside within city limits, live in Douglas County within three miles of the city, own property within East Wenatchee, or conduct business in the city.

The city is looking for candidates with a strong interest in urban planning, community development, or public policy and the ability to analyze and review complex projects. Officials emphasized that no prior experience in planning or local government is necessary, stating that the primary requirement is a commitment to serving the public and enhancing the quality of life in East Wenatchee.

In an effort to broaden representation, the city is encouraging residents from diverse backgrounds to apply for the positions.

Applications are available on the City's website or can be obtained from the City Clerk's office at 271 9th Street NE, East Wenatchee. The positions will remain open until filled.

Interested parties seeking additional information are directed to contact the Community Development Department via email or by phone at 509-884-5396.
