WENATCHEE — Wenatchee Valley College has hired longtime Leavenworth City Councilmember and communications professional Clint Strand as the new executive director of the WVC Foundation. He began the role Dec. 1.

Strand will oversee the Foundation’s fundraising strategy, annual giving programs, major gift efforts, and scholarship allocations, and will work closely with the Foundation board on long- and short-term planning. The position also includes stewarding relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners.

Foundation President Jorden Bullock said Strand “comes with a toolbelt that will help carry on and excel the wonderful Foundation that Rachel Evey paved,” adding that the board is “excited to see what our future holds.”

Strand brings a broad background in public service, communications, and regional leadership. Since 2017, he has served on the Leavenworth City Council, including as co-chair of the Affordable Housing Committee and a member of the Finance Committee. He also served on the Leavenworth Area Promotions Marketing Committee, helping manage the city’s multimillion-dollar lodging tax budget, and contributed to downtown revitalization efforts through the Downtown Steering Committee.

His professional experience includes serving as public relations director at Cascade Medical, where he led strategic communications, campaign development, and budget oversight. His team developed messaging for a hospital levy that passed with 77 percent support. He also chaired the Patient and Family Advisory Committee and the Patient Equity and Access Committee, helping advance equitable communication and patient-centered outreach.

Strand previously held communications roles at Confluence Health and served as news and program director for Icicle Broadcasting/KOHO 101.1 FM.

WVC President Faimous Harrison said Strand’s mix of communications, marketing, media, and health-care experience, combined with his elected service, will bring great value to the college and to the Foundation’s work supporting students.
