EAST WENATCHEE — Local writers are invited to kick off the new year with a relaxed evening of shared work and community connection at Write On The River’s mid-winter open mic, “Four Minutes of Fame.”
The event takes place Thursday, Jan. 29, at Bob’s Burgers and Brew, 795 Grant Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. for mingling, with readings beginning at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverage service will be available throughout the evening.
“Four Minutes of Fame” offers writers a low-pressure opportunity to share original work — about four to five minutes per reader — whether that’s poetry, memoir, fiction, or an early draft in progress. The open mic is not a contest or a slam, but a supportive space to test new material and connect with other writers.
The event is free and open to the public. Those interested in reading are encouraged to sign up in advance, as reading slots are limited. Registration to read is available through Write On The River’s website, writeontheriver.org.
Audience members are also welcome to attend simply as listeners, making the evening accessible to anyone curious about local writing or interested in supporting the region’s creative community.
Organizers also note that Jan. 1 through Feb. 15 marks the online submission window for the 2026 Writers Competition, an annual opportunity for writers across North Central Washington, which can also be done through the organization’s website.
