WENATCHEE — Families across the Wenatchee Valley will once again have access to free summer meals for children as the Wenatchee School District launches its annual Summer Meals Program later this June.
The district announced this week that free breakfast and lunch will be available to all children ages 18 and younger from June 23 through July 23, helping ensure students continue to have reliable access to meals while school is out for summer break.
Meals will be served Tuesday through Thursday at Mission View Elementary School, located at 60 Terminal Ave. in Wenatchee. Breakfast service is scheduled from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., while lunch will be available from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
District officials noted that all meals must be eaten on site. Meal service will not be available July 1 or July 2.
In addition to the school district’s program, local nonprofit Small Miracles Northwest (https://www.smallmiraclesncw.org/) will again provide free grab-and-go lunches at neighborhood parks throughout Wenatchee during the summer months.
Those meals will be distributed Monday through Thursday from June 22 through July 30 between 11 a.m. and noon at four locations:
The Wenatchee School District said the summer meals effort is intended to support children and families during the months when school cafeterias are closed, while continuing to provide students with dependable access to nutritious food throughout the summer break.
