Temporary roundabout to reroute traffic during Eastmont project

Posted

EAST WENATCHEE — Drivers traveling through central East Wenatchee will encounter a temporary roundabout beginning July 7 as construction on the East Wenatchee Water District transmission main project expands.

The City of East Wenatchee announced that Selland Construction will install the temporary traffic circle at the intersection of Ninth Street Northeast and North Baker Avenue to help keep vehicles moving while work continues along Eastmont Avenue.

Beginning July 13, construction is expected to extend along Eastmont Avenue between Ninth and 11th streets northeast. During that phase, northbound traffic on Eastmont Avenue will continue through the work zone, while southbound traffic will be detoured onto North Baker Avenue before reconnecting with Ninth Street via the temporary roundabout.

City officials said the roundabout will be installed about a week before the expanded construction zone takes effect, giving motorists time to become familiar with the new traffic pattern before the detour begins.

Drivers are encouraged to watch for construction signs, use caution in the area and allow extra travel time while the project is underway, as it’s already a relatively busy area.

Additional project updates and traffic maps are available on the City of East Wenatchee website at https://www.eastwenatcheewa.gov/m/newsflash/home/detail/190.
