WENATCHEE — Rotary International Director Marty Peak Helman, whose "Impact Tour: From Barrow to Bermuda" is highlighting volunteer projects across North America, will visit North Central Washington July 20-22 to recognize local service initiatives and the volunteers behind them.
The visit will bring the global humanitarian leader to communities throughout Chelan County, where she will meet with volunteers, tour Rotary-supported projects and participate in public events celebrating service across the region.
Helman's itinerary begins Monday, July 20, with tours of Rotary projects in Leavenworth from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by dinner at Icicle Village Resort from 5 to 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, she will attend Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary at 7 a.m. at Pybus Public Market before visiting Cashmere Rotary Club projects from 9 to 10:30 a.m. She will then travel to Chelan for a noon to 1:30 p.m. meeting with Lake Chelan Rotary at Tsillan Cellars, followed by a tour of Lake Chelan Rotary projects from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Helman returns to Wenatchee for a public reception from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Music and Arts Center on the Wenatchee Valley College campus before joining Rotary Night at the Wenatchee AppleSox game beginning at 6:35 p.m.
Her final day includes visits to the Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council at 9 a.m., Wenatchee's Rotary Park at 10 a.m., and concludes with a noon to 1:30 p.m. meeting of Wenatchee Confluence Rotary at the Town Toyota Center.
"Every Rotarian has a story worth telling," Helman said. "This tour is about celebrating the people whose service strengthens their communities while sharing the incredible impact Rotary members make every day."
Rotary officials said Helman's visit is intended to showcase projects ranging from environmental stewardship and public parks to family services and youth initiatives. Taken together, the North Central Washington stops reflect Rotary's commitment to strengthening communities, building goodwill and improving quality of life throughout the region.
