Pinnacles Prep launches hands-on ‘Test & Tinker’ summer science camp

Posted

WENATCHEE — Pinnacles Prep will offer a hands-on summer science camp for middle school students this June, giving participants the chance to build hovercrafts, experiment with chemical reactions and even walk across pools of oobleck as part of an interactive STEM program.

The camp, titled “Test & Tinker,” is designed for rising fifth through ninth grade students and focuses on science learning through experimentation and collaborative problem-solving.

Activities planned throughout the program include building and riding hovercrafts, creating controlled chemical reactions and exploring the unusual properties of non-Newtonian fluids through hands-on demonstrations.

“We’re thrilled to offer a camp that combines creativity, experimentation, and real-world science concepts,” camp director Nikolai said in a statement. “Test & Tinker is all about giving students the chance to learn by doing — and to have a great time while they do it.”

The camp will be offered during three separate sessions:

  • June 15–18
  • June 23–26
  • June 30–July 2

Daily sessions will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pinnacles Prep, located at 504 S. Chelan Ave. in Wenatchee.

The cost is $125 per five-day session, and organizers said space is limited.

Pinnacles Prep officials said the program is intended to make science accessible and engaging while encouraging curiosity and creativity among students interested in STEM fields.
