CHELAN — The North Cascades Sportsman's Club will host its monthly Blackjack Challenge fundraiser Feb. 28 at its range in Chelan.
The club has held the event each month since November, with attendance increasing each time, organizers said. January’s competition drew 24 participants from Chelan, Manson, Leavenworth and Cashmere, as well as shooters from west of the Cascades and as far north as Omak. Two participants under the age of 18 also competed in January’s event.
The fundraiser supports the club’s purchase of equipment.
The event will take place at 401 Washington Creek Road. Registration runs from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m., followed by a mandatory safety briefing at 9:15 a.m. The first shooter is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
The competition consists of 12 rounds. Each round has a two-minute time limit and includes six targets set at 500 yards. Target sizes range from 12 inches to 2 inches. Shooters must make contact with the target to advance to the next round.
The entry fee is $15, cash only. Second shoots will be available based on the number of participants. Registration is available online or in person on the day of the event. Participants are encouraged to complete a liability waiver and register in advance through the club’s website.
