NCW Libraries recruiting teens for 2025–26 Library Council

Posted

WENATCHEE — NCW Libraries is seeking applications from teens in 8th through 12th grades to serve on its Teen Library Council for the 2025 – 2026 school year. Applicants must reside in Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Okanogan or Ferry counties, according to the district.

Launched in 2021 as a volunteer advisory board, the Teen Library Council meets virtually once a month to give feedback on teen services and help develop programs and resources for peers across the region. Members contribute to library initiatives throughout the year, including creating posts for the district’s website and social media to promote resources and increase teen engagement.

“The Teen Library Council is an incredible way for our library district to ensure we are meeting the most pressing needs and interests of teens. It has also provided opportunities for members to connect with other teens from across our district, gain leadership experience, enhance their college and job applications, and earn community service hours,” said Jessica Lynch, Teen Services Manager.

The council also assists with judging the annual teen writing contest, serves as a network of library ambassadors in local communities, and provides input to the district’s Reimagining Spaces Project to ensure teen areas are included in interior redesign plans.

Applications are due on or before Sept. 30, 2025, at www.ncwlibraries.org/tlc.

NCW Libraries operates 30 library locations across Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Okanogan and Ferry counties, as well as a community bookmobile. The district’s website, www.ncwlibraries.org, offers digital materials and resources including ebooks, eaudiobooks, research databases, homework help, language learning and streaming movies.
