Leavenworth Recycling Center switches to winter hours

Posted

LEAVENWORTH — The Leavenworth Recycling Center will begin its winter schedule on Nov. 5, moving its evening hours of operation.

The recycling center will remain open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., but will operate an hour earlier on Wednesdays, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Leavenworth Recycling Center is managed by the nonprofit Waste Loop in partnership with the City of Leavenworth.

The Leavenworth Recycling Center accepts single stream recycling through Waste Management, such as mixed paper, aluminum and tin cans, and plastic bottles. It also accepts cardboard, which is recycled locally at Michelson’s Packaging Company. Residents in city limits can drop off yard waste at the center with proof of residence.

Glass recycling is back at the recycling center, which Waste Loop hauls to a glass recycler in Seattle. Glass recycling is in high demand at the Leavenworth Recycling Center and can sometimes fill up faster than Waste Loop can transport. To keep the operation sustainable, a $5 donation per box of glass is suggested.

For more information about what is accepted at the Leavenworth Recycling Center can be found at wasteloop.org/leavenworth-recycling-center.
