Leavenworth competes for Hallmark’s Merriest Christmas Town title

LEAVENWORTH — Leavenworth has been selected as a finalist for Hallmark’s Merriest Christmas Town contest, which recognizes towns for bringing “the spirit of Christmas to life through cherished traditions, joyful celebrations, and a deep sense of community.”

The grand prize winner will receive a designation of “Hallmark’s Merriest Christmas Town” and the opportunity to be a filming location of a Hallmark movie.

A public voting period is open until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on Sept. 4. Individuals can make one selection per person, per calendar day. Voting is free, but an email address is required. Votes for Leavenworth can be placed here.

Once public voting closes, a panel of judges will evaluate each finalist town based on community spirit, holiday traditions, neighborhood charm and goodwill. According to the official rules, the  “Judging Period” will end around Sept. 15, with a winner announced on or around Oct. 31.

The rest of the 25 finalists will receive an official designation as an “Official Hallmark Christmas Town” and a holiday promotional toolkit that includes a digital seal, social and marketing templates and Countdown to Christmas promotional assets.

Leavenworth is competing against towns across the country, such as Placerville, Calif., Portsmouth, Ohio,  North Conway, Conn., Winter Garden, Fla., and more.
