East Wenatchee standoff ends in arrest after domestic violence call

Posted

EAST WENATCHEE — A 36-year-old man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after a domestic disturbance call led to a standoff in an East Wenatchee neighborhood.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Clements Circle around 2:07 p.m. on Sept. 27, after an eight-year-old girl ran to a neighbor’s home to report that her father was assaulting her mother and threatening to get a knife.

Officers contained the residence, knowing the suspect had previously fled from law enforcement. Several adults and children were safely evacuated while police established probable cause to arrest the man for second-degree assault (domestic violence), felony violation of a no-contact order, and interfering with reporting.

While officers were preparing an arrest plan, the man attempted to flee out the back of the home but stopped when he saw police securing the perimeter.

When patrol officers were unable to convince him to come out, a search warrant was obtained. Due to his criminal history and the seriousness of the alleged crimes, the East Cascade SWAT Team was activated at 3:14 p.m.

After deploying gas, SWAT officers took the suspect into custody at 5:09 p.m. without further incident. He was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center.

The East Wenatchee Police Department thanked neighboring agencies for their mutual aid during the incident.
