WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center has hired Jenise Trinidad Coates as its new curator of education and programs as the museum continues its Branch Out transition to programming across multiple locations.

Coates began the position July 17 and will help develop the museum’s short- and long-term vision for educational programs, including offerings at its Downtown Branch at 30 S. Mission St., the historic Wells House and the museum’s makerspace.

“I am excited to bring the Museum's education programs to the community and ignite curiosity for science, art, and history,” Coates said.

Coates holds a Master of Arts in elementary education and a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and brings educational and program development experience to the position.

“This is an exciting time for the Museum, and we’re thrilled to add the experience and perspective that Jenise brings to the team,” Director of Operations Courtney Tiffany said. “Through this role, the Museum will be able to continue to deliver high-level educational opportunities throughout the region, while expanding our reach.”

The hire comes as the museum begins its Branch Out transformation while maintaining programs and operations during changes at its main campus.

The museum’s art gallery, gift shop, guest services and administrative headquarters are moving to the Downtown Branch, while additional events and activities will be held at Wells House and other Wenatchee Valley College locations.

Youth robotics classes will be hosted at the former Valley Academy of Learning through a partnership with the Wenatchee School District. Annual events including Multicultural Fest, Salmon Bake, Haunted Museum, A Night at the Museum and Día de los Muertos will continue at locations throughout the Wenatchee Valley with support from community partners.

The Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center is a nonprofit organization supported by the cities of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. More information is available at wenatcheevalleymuseum.org.
