CHELAN — The Ruby Theatre will host Chelan County PUD for a free community presentation titled “The Power of Saving Energy” on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. as part of the Ruby U speaker series.
The event will offer an in-depth look at the energy challenges facing the Pacific Northwest, why Chelan County’s electric rates remain among the lowest in the nation, and how local energy use influences the region’s energy future.
Chelan PUD representatives will discuss how the utility generates more electricity than the county consumes, how selling surplus power helps offset costs for customers, and how long-term planning supports reliable, affordable energy for the community. The presentation will also highlight local success stories from Manson Schools and area businesses that have implemented energy-saving measures with measurable results.
“Energy challenges are on the horizon, but by taking action now we can ensure power remains reliable and affordable for our community,” Chelan PUD said in announcing the event.
The discussion will explore the role of energy efficiency in meeting regional and local energy needs, including practical ways residents and businesses can conserve resources and help maintain affordable electricity for future generations.
The Ruby U speaker series aims to “inform, educate and challenge understanding of ourselves, our community, and our valley now and into the future.”
The program is free to attend, and doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Ruby Theatre, located at 135 E. Woodin Ave., Chelan. For more information, visit www.rubytheatre.com or call (509) 687-3210.
