CHELAN — The Chelan and Manson communities will come together next week to honor the service and sacrifice of local veterans with a series of Veterans Day events hosted by schools and veterans’ organizations.
The Lake Chelan School District will kick off the commemorations on Friday, Nov. 7, with a Veterans Luncheon at noon in the foyer of the Chelan Community Gym. All veterans are invited to attend and enjoy lunch served by Chelan High School leadership students. Following the luncheon, an All-District Veterans Assembly will begin at 1 p.m. in the Community Gym. The program will feature guest speaker Veteran Dan Ozment, along with student performances and tributes.
On Monday, Nov. 10, the Manson School District will host its annual Veterans Day Breakfast at the Manson High School HUB. Doors open at 8 a.m., and breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. The event, organized by the school’s FFA and FBLA students, will include performances of patriotic songs by the choir and fifth-grade students, as well as opportunities for students to visit and connect with local veterans.
Veterans Day observances will continue on Tuesday, Nov. 11, beginning at 11 a.m., when the Manson American Legion Post 108 holds its annual Veterans Day celebration at American Legion Park, across from the Manson Business Center. The Lake Chelan Patriotic Singers, led by Steve Davis, will lead attendees in song. The ceremony will include the presentation of colors, a prayer, several readings, and remarks from Tabitha Mires, Superintendent of Manson Schools. Coffee and cookies will be served following the event.
Also on Tuesday, Nov. 11, the Chelan VFW Post 6853 will host its annual Veterans Day Parade at 11 a.m. through downtown Chelan.
Together, these events offer opportunities for the community to come together in gratitude and remembrance, honoring those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
