CASHMERE — Cashmere FFA students earned several top awards during this year's fair, including grand champion honors in the steer competition and beef showmanship.

A total of 59 Cashmere FFA students participated, earning several call-back ribbons and champion rosettes.

Kolton Weeks exhibited the grand champion steer, while Amelia Flick earned grand champion honors in beef showmanship.

Cashmere FFA exhibitors also earned three market hog call-backs and three market lamb call-backs.

The chapter placed first in livestock judging and earned first- and second-place finishes in both poultry judging and produce judging.

Students exhibited market steers, hogs, lambs and goats during the fair. The Cashmere FFA and Cashmere FFA Boosters recognized local businesses, organizations and individuals who purchased students' animals.

Weeks' champion steer was purchased by Laura Mounter Real Estate. Flick's market steer was purchased by A & T Mathison Orchards, while Callen Pipkin's steer was purchased by Wok About Grill - Shon Smith.

More than 30 students exhibited market hogs, with purchasers including local businesses, orchards and individuals. Twelve students exhibited market lambs, and Kyah Albright exhibited a market goat.

Cashmere FFA supporters will hold the FFA Booster Club Prime Dinner & Auction at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Chelan County Fairgrounds. Proceeds are intended to support future animal projects, scholarships and student travel to national and state contests. Tickets will be available at the door.
