Pybus Nonprofit Day brings the valley’s quiet work into one shared space

Posted

WENATCHEE — On most Saturdays, people come to Pybus Public Market for coffee, produce, lunch along the river, or a slow stroll through one of the valley’s most recognizable gathering places.

On Saturday, March 21, they’ll come for something a little different.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the main concourse and the LocalTel Event Center will be filled not with shoppers browsing vendor booths, but with nearly 50 nonprofit organizations from across the Wenatchee Valley, each there to share what they do, who they serve, and how neighbors can become part of the work.

The market’s annual Nonprofit Day is designed to make something visible that often happens quietly in the background of daily life. Behind the scenes, dozens of groups are addressing needs that range from animal welfare and education to women’s services, outdoor recreation, and basic community support. For many residents, this event offers a rare chance to see that work gathered in one place.

Organizers describe the day as an opportunity for connection between nonprofits eager to share their missions, volunteers looking for meaningful ways to give back, and community members who may not realize how many resources are available close to home.

“At Pybus, we believe in being more than a gathering place,” says Rachel Madson of Pybus. “We strive to be a hub for learning, connection and community impact.”

Visitors will be able to move booth to booth, ask questions, learn about volunteer opportunities, and discover services that might help themselves, their families, or their neighbors.

For nonprofits, the event is a chance to step out from behind email newsletters and social media posts and meet the community face to face.

Nonprofits interested in participating can still register through an online form provided by the market.

The event is free and open to the public.

Located in the historic steel warehouse along the Columbia River at the foot of Orondo Street in Wenatchee, Pybus Public Market has served as a year-round gathering place since opening in 2013. Home to restaurants, produce vendors, artisans, and the Wenatchee Valley Farmers Market, the market is operated by the Pybus Market Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit governed by a 20-member board.
