Margaret Louise Reynolds passed away on June 12, 2025, in Omak, Washington. She was born in Abernathy, Texas in 1928 and died at the age of 97.

Margaret was a lifelong teacher, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and a vital part of her community.  She never met a stranger – only friends she hadn’t yet made.  Known to many simply as “Ma”, she welcomed everyone with open arms, a warm heart, and a place at her table.  There was always enough food, love, and room for anyone in need.

In the late 1950’s, Red and Margaret moved their family from Texas to Washington, drawn by the promise of fertile farmland.  They first settled in Monse where they owned and operated a pellet mill, then moved to the Brewster Flats in 1966, where they raised alfalfa and later planted and worked an apple orchard for many years.

Prior to moving to Washington, Margaret earned her degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas with a double major in Home Economics and English.  Her passion for education led to a long and impactful teaching career.  She taught early childhood classes in Texas, special needs children for nine years in Malott, Washington, some physically challenged children in their own homes, and kindergarten in Brewster.  Later she became a substitute teacher in Brewster and the surrounding communities.

Margaret was also a Camp Fire Leader, was very involved with 4-H with her children, and a mentor to countless young people.  She passed on many skills, especially sewing, which she lovingly taught to her daughters and others – lessons that have been used and treasured throughout their lives.

Together with her husband, Red Reynolds, Margaret was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brewster, Washington. They poured countless hours into building the church – both physically and spiritually – teaching classes, serving faithfully, and worshipping with conviction.  The church still thrives today, a living testament to their faith and dedication.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Red Reynolds; her parents; her sister, Mildred Powell; her brother, Galen Carr; her nephew, Michael Powell; and two sons-in-law, Michael Marshall and Harold Fisher.

She is survived by her four children and spouses:  Peggy Carlson (husband Larry), David Reynolds (wife Vicky), Karen Fisher, and Rhea Clark (husband Skip).  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who felt like family.

Margaret will be remembered for her steady love, deep faith, boundless generosity, the funny little sayings she had to fit any situation, and the way she made a home for so many.  Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date – details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are made.
