WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center will host a two-part clay sculpting workshop with local artist and educator Martha Flores later this month.
The workshop, conducted in Spanish and open to non-Spanish speakers, will be held Sept. 23 and Sept. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will learn basic clay sculpting techniques, paint and glaze their creations, and complete original works under Flores’ guidance.
In the first session, students will focus on modeling techniques and begin sculpting. Flores will fire the pieces at her studio and return them for the second session, where participants will paint or glaze their sculptures. Finished pieces will be fired again and made available for pickup at Flores’ studio.
Flores, who holds a Master of Fine Arts degree, is known for sculptures and paintings that explore identity, memory, and place. Organizers say she brings “warmth, skill, and deep care to her workshops, making art accessible and joyful for all”.
The class series is sponsored by the Wenatchee Art Education Consortium.
