Betty "Chuckie" M. Harris

Betty “Chuckie” M. Harris, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and community leader, passed away on April 17, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born December 4, 1948, in Ellensburg, Washington, Betty’s life was defined by her pioneering spirit and dedication to family and community. After graduating from Chelan High School, she married Brian Harris in 1967, sharing more than three decades together until 1998.

Betty is survived by her two loving sisters, two devoted sons, cherished daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

She broke barriers as the first female meat cutter in Washington State, working from 1972 to 1989, and continued her trailblazing career as Meat Manager for Safeway for 17 years. Betty was deeply engaged in public service, elected to the Chelan City Council in 1984 and most recently to the Lind City Council in 2026. In pursuit of further education, she graduated from Trend College with a degree in Accounting in 1990, earning a place on the Dean’s list for six months in a row.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9th at 11:00 AM at Lind Calvary Assembly of God, 219 W Third Street, Lind, WA 99341.

Betty will be remembered for her remarkable achievements, her passionate advocacy, and the love she shared with all who knew her; her legacy lives on in her family and the many lives she touched.
