AppleSox even series with 6-3 victory over Pippins

YAKIMA - The Wenatchee AppleSox capitalized on timely hitting and patient at-bats to defeat the Yakima Valley Pippins 6-3 on Wednesday night at Yakima County Stadium, setting up a decisive rubber match in the three-game series.

Luca Boscarino led the charge for Wenatchee (13-4), going 2-for-3 with a walk and a hit by pitch. The AppleSox broke open a scoreless tie in the fifth inning, scoring three runs with two outs. Cannon Peery and Boscarino delivered consecutive RBI singles, followed by a bases-loaded walk to Antonio Gianni and another to Jonathan Fitz, showcasing the team's prowess in clutch situations. Entering the game, Wenatchee boasted a .268 batting average with two outs and runners in scoring position.

The AppleSox continued their offensive onslaught in the seventh, plating three more runs. Fitz drew another bases-loaded walk, sandwiched between RBI singles from Gianni and Hunter Friedberg. The first six Wenatchee batters reached base safely before the Pippins recorded an out in the inning.

David James, who entered the game in relief, silenced the Pippins' bats over the final 2.1 innings, notching his first save of the season and preserving the victory for the AppleSox.

With the series tied at one game apiece, the AppleSox and Pippins will face off in a rubber match on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Following the conclusion of the series, Wenatchee returns home for a six-game homestand.
