AppleSox aim to bounce back against Bells in WINatchee Wednesday batchup

Posted

WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee AppleSox will host the Bellingham Bells on Wednesday evening at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. The AppleSox will send Garrett Ahern to the mound for his summer debut, while the Bells will counter with Caleb Cassie.

Ahern, a freshman from Grand Canyon University, posted a 5.64 ERA with 15 strikeouts over 22.1 innings this spring. Cassie, a right-hander from Queens College, will look to bounce back after allowing four runs in his first start of the summer.

The AppleSox enter the game struggling at the plate, having been held to a season-low three hits in their previous outing. Despite this, Wenatchee still boasts the top batting average in the West Coast League and the third-most runs scored.

Defensively, the AppleSox have been plagued by errors, committing four in their last game and tying the Bend Elks for the most in the league with 20.

In roster news, the AppleSox have made several transactions, with nine new players joining the team for the series against Bellingham. Meanwhile, seven ten-game contract players have been released.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Quincy Vassar and Evan Canfield as they chase Hunter Boyd's team record of 110 strikeouts. Vassar currently sits in second place with 93, while Canfield has moved into eighth with 84.

The AppleSox will look to get back on track and capitalize on their home-field advantage against the Bells on Wednesday night. Fans can purchase tickets at applesox.com/schedule, watch the game on wcleague.watch.pixellot.tv, or listen on kcsyfm.com.
